Selfie Fun!!

Comparing Numbers

The students have been practicing place value and number sense.  This week we focused on comparing numbers using the phrases, greater than, less than and equal to.  Below are two videos the children enjoyed watching. The videos helped them understand the symbols and which way they face in a comparing statement.

I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas!

Our fun December song!

December Fun!

Preparing for the holiday is always a lot of fun. This year the students handcrafted snowflake ornaments for a special someone. We also enjoyed our Polar Express Day. The children came to school in their pajamas! We had fun making extra large snowflakes that are now hanging in the classroom (the closest we got to a white Christmas). We played some games with snowballs (extra large marshmallows) and then ended 2015 with the viewing of The Polar Express.

Japan-America Society of PA

The students were part of a special presentation.  A few members of the Japan-America Society of PA came to William Penn.  The ladies shared the Japanese culture with the students by explaining the elementary schools, houses and food of the Japanese culture.  Beforehand, we discussed Japan and the similarities and differences in our cultures.  Did you know that Japanese elementary school children serve each other lunch and are also responsible for cleaning up the school building after lunch and at the end of the day (bathrooms included)?

Below is a slideshow of the visit as well as the students trying their hands at origami.  Enjoy
